Volunteer
Opportunities
Vera Court offers many opportunities to get involved and give
back to the community. If you are interested in volunteering
you need to:
- Fill out an application
- Schedule an interview
Volunteer shifts are flexible. You may chose to volunteer
one day per week, a few hours a month, or for a one time project.
Office
Assistant
Weekday shifts are available from 9:00 AM12:00 PM. Vera
Court seeks friendly volunteers to spend time answering the
phones, taking messages, and greeting visitors.
Middle
School Youth Tutors
The RISE program seeks volunteers to assist middle school students
with homework and literacy activities MondayThursday
3:004:30.
After
School Program Assistants
The after school program seeks volunteers interested in assisting
1st5th grade children with various activities including
homework completion, literacy activities, recreation, and
computer lab access. The program takes place Mondays from
1:005:00, and TuesdayFriday from 2:455:30.
Table
Monitors
The Kids Café program seeks volunteers to provide
assistance and positive role modeling during meal times. Meals
are served Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings at 5:00
PM.
Girl
Neighborhood Power and Youth Leadership Program Assistants
Both programs seek volunteers interested in teaching or speaking
to participants in a variety of areas including alcohol and
other drugs, positive decisions, career exploration, dance,
creative writing and cooking. The Leadership program meets
Tuesday and Friday evening from 5:009:00 PM. The Girl
Neighborhood Power Program meets Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday
from 5:307:00.
Life
as a Boy Mentors
The Life as a Boy program seeks adult male role
models to mentor 3rd5th grade boys and to participate
in recreational activities.
Special
Event and One-time Opportunities
Volunteers can work on many different onetime projects including
helping with the Turkey Basket giveaway, large community events,
bulk mailings, web design, and many other projects.
