Milestones
The Milestones Program supports young people through academic support, educational activities, career exploration, and individualized guidance. Students participating in Milestones have opportunities to build academic and employment skills, explore future pathways, and connect with resources and experiences that support their goals.
Programming is provided at no cost to families.
Milestones Program
Overview
Milestones is an academic and youth development initiative at Vera Court Neighborhood Center designed to help young people succeed in school, explore their interests, and prepare for their futures.
Through individualized support, educational experiences, career exploration, and connections with community partners, Milestones works alongside young people as they identify their goals and take steps toward achieving them.
Our work is rooted in the belief that every young person has strengths, potential, and a future worth investing in.

Our Story
Overview
From Academic Support to a Growing Department
In 2017, Vera Court Neighborhood Center launched Milestones to provide additional academic support to young people participating in our youth programs.
The program introduced one-on-one tutoring, academic case management, and educational activities, with the goal of helping students strengthen their academic skills and reach their educational goals.
As the needs and interests of our young people have grown, so has Milestones.
What began as an academic support initiative has expanded to include career exploration, employment readiness, goal setting, educational opportunities, and connections that help young people prepare for life beyond the classroom.
In 2025, Vera Court began transitioning Milestones into a dedicated department. This new structure allows Milestones to grow more independently while continuing to work alongside our youth programs, families, schools, and community partners.
